New York State and Bermuda Lions Foundation

The New York State and Bermuda Lions Foundation, Inc. Was established as an official project of Multiple District 20 in 1993. Its mission was to provide district-wide support for worthy projects which would otherwise be beyond the means of individual clubs or sub-districts. The foundation is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization.

The foundation provides grants for the following purposes: sight and hearing projects, humanitarian services primarily related to sight and hearing and emergency grants for natural disasters. This is done through grant requests submitted to the Foundation and approved by the Foundation board of trustees.

Each district in MD-20 is represented by three (3) trustees that sit on the foundation board. Foundation trustees are elected to a three year term with 1/3 of the board elected each year at the MD-20 convention. As part of their duties they are available as a resource to answer questions and provide guidance.

The foundation board meets four times each year and holds their annual meeting at the multiple district convention. Every lion in good standing in MD-20 is a member of the NYS & Bermuda Lions Foundation.

The foundation raises funds through its annual raffle, the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award, individual and club donations, bequests and corporate funding.
